Even though the whale hunting in Lahaina has ended, the winter months are still prime time to set sail and see humpbacked whales swimming on their migration routes near the island. Similar beach and boat tours occur year-round at sunset when the light here on the west coast of the island is especially beautiful. Winter break and the surrounding weeks are the busiest on the island despite being in the heart of the rainy season, but Spring and Fall see a major decline in visitors so you can often find great deals and few crowds at the most popular locations. In summer, travel picks up again though not as much as it is in the winter months.
