Guests can take a Desert Safari to the California high desert wilderness. There are simple desert walks and adventure hiking past clear streams, and unusual rock formations and caves, through forests and, during some months, there are hikes to snow fields.
The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is another attraction that is the largest rotating tramcar in the world. It takes guests up two and a half miles to the top of the cliffs of Chino Canyon. The elevation is 8,516 feet and during the winter guests can ski back down. There is also a restaurant at the top that boasts serving meals in the clouds.
The nearest airports are the Palm Springs Airport at 22 miles and the San Bernardino Airport at 51 miles. Indio is close enough to Las Vegas for guests to enjoy the entertainment there for a day or two as well as the beach at San Diego. Palm Springs is only 25 miles away and has high-end shopping, galleries and cafes for celebrity-watching.
