The company does not have an official buyback program, so Vacation Village at Parkway would not buy back timeshares. Any such request would most likely be forwarded to the corporate office in South Florida for a response.

There are a couple of ways you can sell Vacation Village timeshares, depending on how involved you want to be in the process.

The first and less expensive option is to advertise your timeshare online and handle the process yourself. Look for an online outlet that specializes in selling timeshare since they will be marketing to consumers online looking for deals. You’ll be given an ad and the online support needed to handle the process. Negotiate the sale and agree on a price, then get the contract signed and send it to closing. The only cost will be the cost of the advertisement and you’ll keep all of the proceeds after you sell with no commissions to be paid.

The second option is to use a timeshare broker. This works similar to the way a real estate agency would operate to sell a house. An agent is assigned to your account, promotes your timeshare, and handles the negotiation on your behalf. They’ll get the contract signed and send it to closing for you. The main drawback is the cost, since the commissions are generally $1,500 or 15 percent of the sale price, whichever is larger.

Because Vacation Village does not have an in-house resale program, contacting the resort to sell your timeshare will probably not help your cause.

The cost for the shuttle to Disney is included in the resort fee and includes round-trip service from Vacation Village at Parkway to the Center.

This depends on how the timeshare was purchased. The worth of any product is usually evaluated based on the price paid and the value to the owner – whether the product has met the need of the buyer. Owners tend to think that their timeshares are worth it if they got a great deal on it and use it on a consistent basis. If they paid a high price and don’t have the ability to use it, that’s where the problems usually set in.

According to the American Resort Development Association (ARDA), timeshare owners have an 85 percent satisfaction rate with the product. The majority of owners rate their overall experience as either excellent, very good, or good according to the survey.

Even with these positive numbers, that still potentially leaves 1.5 million owners in the U.S. who are dissatisfied with the product. Many of whom find out about the discounts on the timeshare resale market only after they have purchased at the inflated prices at the resorts.

Resort prices average nearly $23,000 per timeshare week according to ARDA. Included in the resort prices are sales commissions and marketing costs that are recouped from buyers, making up as much as 60 percent of the overall sale price. It’s similar to the way the car market works when new cars cost significantly more than resales and depreciate the minute they are driven off the lot.

On the timeshare resale market, those costs and commissions don’t exist because buyers are purchasing direct from existing owners. So a resale buyer could be lounging at the resort pool next to a new sale buyer – experiencing the same resort but at drastically different price points.

Using the timeshare consistently is a big issue, since many owners purchased when on vacation and some just don’t seem to use it. Timeshare can be confusing at times, but with the Vacation Village product the booking system is fairly straightforward. Planning ahead of time is important, but also is the use of exchange companies to expand your travel options.

Vacation Village at Parkway is an RCI affiliate, so owners can also become RCI members and choose from 4,500 resort options globally in the network. This also means more drive-to vacation destinations are available in case extended travel is an issue.
