The Palms is Rotonda's second 18-Hole par 72 championship course. Golfers are astounded by its five finishing holes, which include six different water hazards, multi-tiered greens, and two of Florida's most demanding holes, the 15th & 16th, back to back. This course is well designed with four sets of tees that challenge all skill levels.
The par-three 149-yard hole number one requires a precise tee shot, since water and woods wait for your ball on either side of the extremely narrow fairway. If you go short with your tee shot, there is a deep, long and wide waterless gully full of high weeds. Even If you are lucky enough to find your ball, chipping out of the gully is no easy task. The scorecard says to take an extra club and to play to the far side of the green, which is good advice indeed. You are not allowed to take your cart over the bridge to the green at holes number one.
Myakka Pines has 27 holes that are divided into three distinctly different courses, the Red, White and Blue courses. Together, they produce three 18 hole courses for interesting play. Each nine hole course has its own characteristics. The courses are about 3100 yards for men, 2800 for women and 3350 from the blue tees. All three courses were designed to please and satisfy the average golfer yet challenge the low handicapper and scratch golfer, making it a fair test for your game.
