Many guests advised that it was cheaper to either take a ride-sharing service such as Uber or rent a car to get around the area. For those guests that drive to Orlando, parking at the Magic Kingdom is $25 per car and some guests say the parking is cheaper than taking the shuttle service.

Owners can vacation at one of the 68 resorts within the Bluegreen resort network as well as exchanging to stay in one of over 4,000 resorts worldwide through exchange provider RCI. Points can also be used beyond resort stays for travel products such as cruises and tours.

Bluegreen has a network of 68 resorts across 24 states and the Caribbean island of Aruba. These resorts are separated into two categories – managed and non-managed properties. Bluegreen owners pay for their timeshare in three ways – for the timeshare itself, the annual maintenance fees and the yearly club dues. The payment for the timeshare is either in full at the time of purchase or by financing the purchase with a lender. The payments of the annual maintenance fees and the club dues are paid to Bluegreen.

Let’s first look at the timeshare payment. If the purchase is financed, the owner would be repaying the debt similar to paying off any other purchase. This is often referred to as a mortgage but in reality, it is most likely an unsecured debt – which is more like a credit card repayment than an actual mortgage on a property.

Non-payment on the timeshare mortgage would bring the owner in conflict with the lender, who could use any legal means necessary to recover the debt. This could eventually lead to foreclosure or a possible court order. Credit bureaus would more than likely be notified, leading to a substantial hit to the owner’s credit report and credit score.

Regarding the maintenance fees and club dues, since these are paid to Bluegreen we’ll discuss them in tandem. Maintenance fees cover the resort costs of the resort where the ownership is deeded, while the club dues involve the points program and the management of the program.

If the owner stops paying their Bluegreen timeshare fees, Bluegreen would contact the owner to see if the fee payment can be resolved. If non-payment continues, an in-house or third-party collection department would become involved, possibly leading to foreclosure on the timeshare ownership. As with the earlier example, any notification to the credit bureaus would likely impact the owner’s credit report and downgrade their credit score.

This stage is usually a last resort for owners looking to move on from their timeshare ownership. If owners get to this stage, they are better off selling their timeshare and making some money back rather than enduring the scenarios mentioned above.
