Scottsdale's two newest courses can be found at Troon North Golf Club, which hold the top golf ranking in Arizona! Tom Weiskopf led a two-year project, which transcended typical course renovations. He created an entirely new playing experience by blending the two courses together and changing the sequence in which the holes are played.
Set in the rugged Sonoran Desert and surrounded by the stunning McDowell Mountains, the club offers two championship courses to enjoy - the world famous Stadium Course and the stunning Champions Course. The second course opened in Tonto Verde in 1999, and provides a great contrast to the Peaks Course. The name was derived from the Box Bar Ranch, a working ranch purchased by the Developers in the 60's, and from there, the Development of Rio Verde and Tonto Verde began. Again, the Developers called on Gary Panks, to design this course, more difficult from the tees compared to the Peaks Course, longer, but somewhat friendlier around the greens.
The Peaks Course, the first of two golf courses located in Tonto Verde, comprises 18 holes of spectacular views of the surrounding mountains, mainly the Mazatzal Mountains, which include the signature Four Peaks. Thus the name.
